At 23 years old, Wil Massara is one of Australia’s most dynamic young changemakers, driven by a belief that leadership is not defined by age or title but by influence, purpose, and action. Growing up in regional Western Australia, Wil experienced firsthand the challenges young people face when opportunities feel out of reach. That perspective has shaped everything he does. His message is simple, leadership is for everyone, no matter where you come from or how old you are.
Wil’s entrepreneurial spirit began early. At just 11 years old, he launched Planeapidea, an online aviation website that connected people who shared his love of flight and adventure. That first project ignited his passion for using technology and communication to bring people together and make a difference.
A few years later, while working three part-time jobs and still in high school, Wil founded the Youth Leadership Academy Australia (YLAA) with a mission to empower young Australians to step up, speak out, and make a difference. What began as a local idea has grown into a national movement. Under Wil’s leadership, YLAA has now impacted more than 50,000 young people across over 1,500 schools, delivering transformative leadership conferences, regional summits, and school-based programs that build confidence, resilience, and community. Each program is grounded in the belief that every young person has the ability to make a positive impact, they just need the space and support to do it.
Wil’s passion and relatability make him one of the most engaging voices of his generation. Having grown up in the world his audiences are navigating, he understands Generation Z better than anyone. His insights into the hopes, challenges, and mindset of young people allow him to connect authentically and inspire them to see what is possible for their own lives.
In recognition of his impact, Wil was named Western Australia’s Young Changemaker of the Year at the 2025 WA Youth Awards, and received the Community Leadership Award at the 2025 Young Achiever Awards. Later that year, he was selected to represent Australia at the Young Changemakers Summit in South Africa, joining a global network of 50 young leaders shaping the future through innovation and service.
Beyond YLAA, Wil is a sought-after keynote speaker, consultant, and advisor to government, schools, and industry on how to engage and empower Generation Z. His presentations combine research, lived experience, and powerful storytelling to challenge perspectives and equip audiences to lead with empathy, courage, and purpose.
Through his journey, Wil continues to model what he teaches, that leadership begins with taking responsibility for the impact you have on others. His mission remains clear, to redefine what leadership looks like for young people today and to build a generation of confident, connected, and community-minded Australians ready to shape a better future.
